This review got a little longer than I wanted it to be but but I simply wanted to make sure you don’t miss any info that might be relevant for you. You should read it all since I will be revealing some stuff that you cannot read on the official sales page.
My name is Rob and I have been working with music creation software and various types of sequencer programs since 1989. I had started out on the Amiga 2000 computer using the legendary Soundtracker/Protracker software with 8-bit samples:-) Anyone still remember?
Anyway, since I got a PC I have tried all types of different beat making software and software sequencers. Most of them just couldn’t do what I wanted.
The problem is just: It is very hard to find a good piece of software that
- Is easy to use even for a beginner
- Can be used without expensive additional studio equipment
- Has a large selection of samples (sounds) to use
I simply wanted to have a software that does it all for me. A software that not only acts as a sequencer to work with other equipment I didn’t have – but one that I could use as a stand-alone application that would let me compose, create and playback the music without depending on any other software or device.
I also wanted to be able to try out different things quickly and easily.
Often I just like to go through the library of sounds – pick one of them and then start with an idea around that sound, put it into a sequence and see how it develops.
I found that in most programs you had to have it all in mind what you wanted to do. My problem is: I am not like that. I like to try out sounds and start to play around with them. Often I get really cool songs this way.
Anyway I tried all types of software and here is what I found:
Some just assume the role of a sequencer – meaning they don’t come with any sounds or just a little selection of examples – but nothing you can use to get started – nothing really cool.
These guys assume you are a professional music producer and already have a large collection of samples in your studio.
Others come with some sounds but these are just the same boring standard sounds. Nothing you can use to make any state-of the art pop or hip hop sound.
Then I even had 2 cases where the software came with some really cool samples but these turned out not to be royalty free! Big mistake! If you would use them and publish them on the net or even try to sell it then this could get you into big trouble. So always make sure that the sounds you use are free of nay 3rd party copyright and that you can actually use them.
I said before I love being spontaneous: You know just putting together some sounds and start off my new song that way. This is probably the biggest challenge that most music production software has:
The professional programs are so complex that you cannot simply try something out. You feel like you need a degree in music or computer science. No way!
Then there are some nice pieces of software that have a what I call ‘newbie interface’.
These types of software (usually what you can buy in stores for below $100) indeed lets you try out stuff and play with some cool sounds. You can tell it is made for non-musicians.
It is easy to use but…….once you try to get a little advanced you already encounter the limits.
Most of this ‘beginner-type’ software simply has no good sounds you can use or they do – but the sounds just don’t fit together. Many include some loops but if you use these loops all your songs will sound almost the same since you don’t have any way of changing the pre-recorded loops.
I was already at the point where I had given up trying to find a good piece of software that I could use for making music at home quickly and easily until my friend Dave let me try out a brand-new piece of software called ‘sonic producer’ he just tried on the Internet.
I was skeptical since I thought I knew all music software and I hadn’t seen a software called sonic producer in any store.
When Dave pressed the play button I thought like: OK, this is probably one of the sample songs that came with the software right? (I knew he wasn’t too talented composing stuff).
But I was wrong. He had actually made the entire song by himself just using a couple of beats that came with the software. I was even more stunned when he put together another cool piece of hip hop music right in front of my eyes in only 10 minutes. Boy it sounded really professional.
I had to try it out. For 4 straight days I locked myself in my basement and did nothing but play around with this cool new toy. It seemed I really had found what I was looking for all the time.
Anyway, what is it exactly that you get with Sonic Producer:
This software comes with a 16 track sequencer with separate set of volume controls, music production tutorial, and adjustable beat per minute rate.
Sonic Producer allows a user to create over 2000 beats using drag and drop functions and works on any computer regardless of the computer’s model or the operating system used. For more convenience and further guidance, a “members’ area” is created for users to learn how to use the software through video tutorials that they provided. Moreover, for technical assistance or inquiries, the Sonic Producer staff is always ready to assist and will quickly reply to emails and answer phone calls by clients.
Also you can export any track in mp3-format.
Even without going through tutorial lessons, a user can immediately learn how to use Sonic Producer software just by looking at the interface. The software has many powerful features that cannot be found on any other music software. Sounds that can be created may range from drum beats, piano tunes, guitar sounds and many others.
I have never seen a software that has such a large selection of professional sounds and samples that you can use instantly to create tracks that sound like they have been produced with some 5-figure studio equipment.
Once you have an idea you can instantly try it out and keep changing it until you have the cool grove you had in mind. Try adding some guitars or hi hats – or maybe some exotic samples and see how it sounds. Sonic producer is truly what I need when creating professional tracks with only my notebook!
How Much Does Sonic Producer Costs?
I can remember that my friend had paid something around $100 or so (which I think is an incredible price for all the features that it offers) – but right now I think they have a special Internet-only discount where you can get the entire software for well below 50 bucks – don’t know how long that lasts though.
Click here to get to the original site and see if they still offer the discount – and if they do get it while you can.
Bottom line
I give Sonic Producer a 100% recommendation. It is simply the best piece of music production soft ware you can get these days.
